Steps in Migrating

We originally wanted to migrate to Canada. However, in the recent years, they have implemented a lot of changes in their migration program. Including the integration of a skills shortlist, wherein only the skills on the list are allowed to apply for migration.

We checked out New Zealand, and then Australia. And after thorough deliberation, we were quite happy with the Australian migration program, plus the fact that my hubby's skill is in their shortage list.

The general steps in migrating to Australia are as follows:

first, visit the Australian immigration website here. You will find on this website all the possible migration options, visa eligibility and requirements;

next, you may now proceed to this page and download  Booklet # 6. This booklet summarizes all the requirements for visa migration. Let me remind you to please read and understand #1 and #2 thoroughly and wholeheartedly;

next, After thorough understanding of the process based on #1 and #2, you will see that in order for you to qualify for migration, you need to pass their points test. This the Points test in effect from today until end of this month, June 30, 2011. For additional information, please refer to this. This point system will change come July 1, 2011, please refer to this new points system and FAQs;

lastly, once you assess yourself qualified to any of the visa options, you may now start with the requirements gathering, as this is a long, tedious and expensive process.

So those are the primary steps into the migration process. Let me tell you that it is a long and daunting task. BUT achievable. Don't be intimated by the seemingly complicated procedure, it is really easy for so long as you put your heart on it.

As most of my posts and situations are limited to our visa processing experience, such as the skill assessment process, territory sponsorship application, etc. Please feel free to shoot me a question if you find somethings unclear.

Cheers mate!
